Dried Carolina Reaper Yellow Pepper
Dried Carolina Reaper Yellow Pepper is the dried version of the yellow variant of Carolina Reaper, the world's hottest certified chili pepper, belonging to the species Capsicum chinense. Selected by Ed Currie of PuckerButt Pepper Company from the same Naga Morich x red Habanero cross, it keeps the extreme heat of the original reaper, around 2,000,000 Scoville Heat Units.
The Carolina Reaper Yellow Plant
The bush is compact and vigorous, 80-100 cm tall, with small dark green leaves and white flowers with greenish centers. Fruits keep the wrinkled skin and typical scorpion-tail shape, but turn bright yellow at full ripeness instead of the classic red.
How to Sow Carolina Reaper Yellow
Sow in a heated seedbed between February and March, keeping temperatures constant at 25-28°C: Capsicum chinense germination is slow, often 3-4 weeks.
How to Grow Carolina Reaper Yellow
Transplant from May, once night temperatures stay stably above 15°C. It prefers full sun, wind shelter and fertile, well-drained soil rich in organic matter.
