Dried Godzilla Reaper Peach Pepper is the dried version of an F1 hybrid born from crossing Carolina Reaper with California Reaper Peach, belonging to the species Capsicum chinense. Its name recalls the irregular, almost monstrous shape of the fruit, which clearly keeps the characteristic scorpion tail of Carolina Reaper, with heat up to 2,000,000 Scoville Heat Units.
The bush is vigorous, with dark green leaves and white flowers, typical of super hot Capsicum chinense. Fruits are medium-small, with a bumpy, irregular shape and a well-defined pointed tail.
Sow in a heated seedbed between February and March, keeping temperatures constant at 25-28°C: Capsicum chinense germination is slow, often 3-4 weeks.
Transplant from May, once night temperatures stay stably above 15°C. It prefers full sun, wind shelter and fertile, well-drained soil rich in organic matter.
Given its extreme heat, always handle fruits with disposable gloves and avoid tasting raw. During drying, keep the product away from direct drafts and excessive heat sources.
Like other Capsicum chinense, it can be affected by aphids, spider mites and whitefly, especially under protected cultivation with poor ventilation.
Capsaicin, responsible for the heat, has thermogenic properties and boosts metabolism. Dried Godzilla Reaper Peach pepper, with a warm, sweet flavor, is used as powder, sauces or concentrated extracts, always in minimal doses.
