Dried Drax in Fire Pepper

Dried Drax in Fire Pepper is the dried version of an Italian super hot of the species Capsicum chinense, born from crossing Carbon Bhut 7 Pot with Fatalii Jigsaw Gourmet, selected by the DRAX house. It reaches about 1,900,000 Scoville Heat Units, with heat some say surpasses Carolina Reaper also for its persistence, lasting up to 15 minutes.

The Drax in Fire Plant

The plant is large and very resistant, able to exceed 120 cm, shaped like a small tree. Leaves are thin, oval and light green, white flowers are few per node. It is very productive, with lantern-shaped fruits about 7 cm long and up to 4 cm wide.

How to Sow Drax in Fire

Sow in a heated seedbed between February and March, keeping temperatures constant at 25-28°C: Capsicum chinense germination is slow, often 3-4 weeks.

How to Grow Drax in Fire

Transplant from May, once night temperatures stay stably above 15°C. It prefers full sun, wind shelter and fertile, well-drained soil rich in organic matter.

Heat Level and Care Tips for Drax in Fire

The fruit's irregular, rough surface becomes increasingly wrinkled with ripening, a sign of the large amount of placenta and seeds inside. Always handle fruits with disposable gloves; during drying, keep the product away from direct drafts and excessive heat sources.

Diseases and Pests of Drax in Fire

Like other Capsicum chinense, it can be affected by aphids, spider mites and whitefly, especially under protected cultivation with poor ventilation.

Properties and Uses of Drax in Fire

Capsaicin, responsible for the heat, has thermogenic properties and boosts metabolism. Dried Drax in Fire pepper, meaty with lingering heat, is used as powder, sauces or concentrated extracts, always in minimal doses.
