Dried Juma! Yellow pepper was born by chance in the fields of the Diavolo Piccante farm, discovered accidentally among some Jalapearl plants.
plant, of the species Capsicum annuum, is medium-sized and sturdy, shaped like a small tree: it reaches a maximum height of 1 meter and grows well even in medium-sized pots.
sowing should be done between February and March in a seedbed at 22-26°C, transplanting after the last frosts; being a still unstable spontaneous variety, small variations can appear between plants.
growing favors stable temperatures above 12°C and regular watering that avoids waterlogging: features that make it easy to grow even indoors.
the fruits are fairly large, with a maximum length of 7 centimeters and a maximum diameter of 4 cm, shaped like a bell pepper; they turn from light green to bright yellow at full ripeness.
waterlogging, which favors root rot, must be prevented, along with monitoring for aphids, especially under protected or container cultivation.
Juma! Yellow has a very mild heat level, around 20,000 SHU on the Scoville scale, with a sweet taste reminiscent of bell pepper: perfect eaten raw, chopped into salads or ground into powder.
dried and containing a modest amount of capsaicin, it also retains good amounts of carotenoids responsible for its bright yellow color.
