Dried Jalapeno Biker Billy pepper is a selected jalapeno variety hotter than the standard type, developed for fans of spicy American cooking.
plant, of the species Capsicum annuum, is vigorous and bushy, about 70-90 centimeters tall, highly productive even in pots.
sowing should be done between February and March in a seedbed at 22-26°C, transplanting after the last frosts; fruits ripen in about 75-85 days from transplant.
growing requires full sun exposure and regular watering without waterlogging, with soil rich in organic matter and well-drained.
the elongated, thick-walled fruits are usually picked green, though they can ripen to red, developing a more intense heat than the classic jalapeno.
waterlogging, which favors root rot, must be prevented, along with monitoring for aphids, especially under protected or container cultivation.
Jalapeno Biker Billy has a medium-high heat level, higher than the standard jalapeno and close to 8,000-10,000 SHU on the Scoville scale: excellent dried and smoked or ground into powder for bold sauces.
dried and rich in capsaicin, responsible for its intense heat, it also retains good amounts of vitamin C and antioxidants.
