Dried Cayambe F1 pepper is a hot hybrid with elongated fruits, valued for its high yield and the good uniformity typical of modern F1 selections.
plant, of the species Capsicum annuum, is vigorous and bushy, about 60-90 centimeters tall, highly productive with a compact habit also suited to container growing.
sowing should be done between February and March in a seedbed at 22-26°C, transplanting after the last frosts; fruits ripen in about 80-90 days from transplant.
growing requires full sun exposure and regular watering without waterlogging, with soil rich in organic matter and well-drained.
the elongated, pointed fruits turn from green to vivid red at full ripeness, keeping thin walls ideal for quick drying.
waterlogging, which favors root rot, must be prevented, along with monitoring for aphids, especially under protected cultivation.
Cayambe F1 has a medium-high heat level, between 15,000 and 30,000 SHU on the Scoville scale: excellent dried and ground into powder, or kept whole to season winter dishes.
dried and rich in capsaicin, responsible for its bold heat, it also retains good amounts of vitamin C and carotenoids.
