A plant typical of the Campania region, highly productive and vigorous, with long, wide leaves and numerous florets; this cabbage has a sweet, delicate flavour, excellent even pan-cooked.
Its botanical name is Brassica oleracea, belonging to the Cruciferae family (Brassicaceae). The leaves are large in size, very long and wide, with a noticeable floret at the tips.
Sowing traditionally takes place in summer, for transplanting at the end of the season and a successive harvest through autumn-winter.
A vigorous, highly productive plant, it adapts well to traditional Campania open-field cultivation, with abundant yields of leaves and shoots.
Harvest the outer leaves as they develop, letting the heart of the plant continue growing to ensure a continuous yield.
Like other Brassicaceae, it can be affected by cabbage white caterpillars and aphids, especially during the early growth stages of the seedlings.
A traditional Neapolitan vegetable, a staple of winter soups and stews, rich in vitamins and minerals with a sweet, delicate flavour.
