With characteristics entirely identical to the wide-leaf Neapolitan soup cabbage, this variety differs only in its leaves, which are long and very narrow.
Its botanical name is Brassica oleracea, belonging to the Cruciferae family (Brassicaceae). The leaves are long and narrow, unlike the wide-leaf variant, but retain the same sweet, delicate flavour.
Sowing traditionally takes place in summer, for transplanting at the end of the season and a successive harvest through autumn-winter.
A vigorous, productive plant, it adapts well to traditional Campania open-field cultivation, with abundant yields of leaves and shoots.
Harvest the outer leaves as they develop, letting the heart of the plant continue growing to ensure a continuous yield.
Like other Brassicaceae, it can be affected by cabbage white caterpillars and aphids, especially during the early growth stages of the seedlings.
A vegetable perfect for both raw and cooked preparations, rich in vitamins and minerals, a staple of traditional Neapolitan soups.
