A blend of several cut-and-come-again lettuce varieties, blond and red, offering a continuous, colourful harvest from a single sowing — ideal for fresh salads ready within a few weeks.
The mix combines several Lactuca sativa var. crispa/acephala cultivars, family Asteraceae, without forming a true head: the leaves grow in a rosette and are harvested as they develop.
Sow from February to September directly in the field or in pots, broadcast or in rows, sowing in successive batches every 2-3 weeks for continuous harvests.
It prefers a sunny spot and well-drained but moisture-retentive soil; it can also be grown in pots or crates at least 20 cm deep, perfect for balconies and terraces.
Harvest when leaves reach 6-8 cm tall, cutting at the base with scissors: the plant regrows quickly, allowing 2-4 successive harvests from the same sowing.
Like other lettuces it can be affected by downy mildew and grey mould in overly humid conditions; slugs and aphids are the most common pests to monitor.
Thanks to its blend of colours and textures, from light green to red, it is perfect for decorative, varied salads; its quick regrowth makes it ideal for balcony gardening with frequent harvests.
Like other lettuces it is rich in water, vitamins A, B2 and C, minerals (calcium, iron, potassium) and soluble fibre, useful for digestive regularity.
Per 100 grams, the cut-and-come-again lettuce mix provides about 15 kcal, 1.3 g protein, 2.2 g carbohydrates, 0.2 g fat and 1.4 g fibre. Good source of vitamin A and potassium.
