Naomi cherry tomato is a highly productive cherry variety, with small round fruits with a sweet flavour, grouped in long clusters along the whole plant.
It belongs to the species Solanum lycopersicum, family Solanaceae. A vigorous indeterminate-growth plant requiring staking to support the numerous fruit clusters.
Sow in a heated seedbed between February and March, with soil temperature between 20 and 25°C; transplant into the field after the last frosts.
It prefers fertile, well-drained soil, sunny exposure and regular watering; the plant needs staking and periodic side-shoot removal to support continuous production.
Harvest is staggered from July to September, picking fruits once they reach full red colouring for maximum sweetness.
It can be affected by downy mildew, alternaria and blossom-end rot in case of irregular watering; crop rotation and good ventilation help prevent the main plant diseases.
The small sweet fruits are eaten fresh in salads, as a snack or to garnish dishes, thanks to their intense flavour and convenient size.
Rich in lycopene, vitamin C and potassium, Naomi tomato has antioxidant properties beneficial to overall wellbeing.
