San Marzano Cirano tomato is a long-established, well-known San Marzano variety, with a strong, productive plant and characteristic banana-shaped fruit.
It belongs to the species Solanum lycopersicum, family Solanaceae. A rustic plant, resistant to several common root diseases, with a late cycle.
Sow in a heated seedbed between February and March; transplant outdoors or in greenhouse between April and May.
It adapts well to both greenhouse and open-field cultivation; water steadily from the fruit-swelling stage onward, avoiding waterlogging.
The very long, full and pulpy berries are harvested once they reach the deep red colour of full ripeness.
A rustic plant resistant to common root diseases; it still benefits from good canopy ventilation to prevent downy mildew.
Thanks to its meaty, tasty flesh, it is ideal both for fresh use in salads and for sauces and preserves.
Rich in lycopene, vitamin C and potassium, San Marzano Cirano tomato has antioxidant properties beneficial to overall wellbeing.
