Marmande Degheio tomato is an early, productive variety, suitable for both greenhouse and open field, disease-resistant and yielding slightly flattened, ribbed fruit.
It belongs to the species Solanum lycopersicum, family Solanaceae. A rustic, vigorous plant with short internodes and double flower trusses.
Sow in a heated seedbed between February and April; transplant between April and May.
It adapts well to both greenhouse and open-field cultivation; it prefers soil rich in organic matter and regular watering.
The slightly flattened, ribbed fruits reach 200-250 grams with firm flesh, and are harvested once fully and brightly red.
Healthy and resistant to many soil-borne diseases, it still benefits from good canopy ventilation to prevent fungal issues.
Thanks to its firm flesh and balanced, aromatic flavour, it is at its best grilled, baked, stuffed au gratin, as well as fresh in salads.
Rich in lycopene, vitamin C and potassium, Marmande Degheio tomato has antioxidant properties beneficial to overall wellbeing.
