Murano medium-long oval tomato is a highly productive hybrid variety, with oval-oblong fruit showing a distinctive green colour turning bright red near the stem end.
It belongs to the species Solanum lycopersicum, family Solanaceae. An indeterminate, vigorous plant with an airy habit and excellent fruit set.
Sow in a heated seedbed between February and March; transplant between April and May.
Suited to spring and summer-autumn production under cover; regular watering supports its excellent yield.
The medium-length fruits, about 140-160 grams, are harvested either singly or as whole trusses once fully red.
Highly resistant to the main natural genetic diseases of tomato; it still benefits from good canopy ventilation.
Thanks to its excellent firmness at ripeness, it is versatile in the kitchen: perfect fresh in salads, grilled, or for sauces.
Rich in lycopene, vitamin C and potassium, Murano tomato has antioxidant properties beneficial to overall wellbeing.
