Nerina tomato is a rather productive variety, with fishbone-style clusters bearing about six uniform, ovoid fruits.

It belongs to the species Solanum lycopersicum, family Solanaceae. A medium-vigour plant with short internodes and dense, well-covering foliage.

Sow in a heated seedbed between February and March; transplant between April and May.

The dense foliage naturally protects the fruit from direct sun exposure; regular watering favours steady, quality harvests.

The oval, uniform fruits show dark green colour with a marked shoulder that disappears at full ripeness, giving way to an intense red.

The well-covering foliage reduces the risk of sunscald and weather damage; it still benefits from good ventilation.

Its intense, fruity, sweet flavour makes it excellent fresh, but it also works well for preserves, canned tomatoes and sauces.
