Pantano Sarom tomato is a high-quality salad variety with large, reddish fruits flattened at the poles, from vigorous indeterminate plants with excellent flavor.
Belonging to the species Solanum lycopersicum, family Solanaceae. An indeterminate, tall and vigorous plant that easily reaches 2 meters; requires systematic staking and support.
Sow in heated seedbed between February and March; transplant into pots or field in May, once frost risk has passed.
Prefers fertile, well-drained soils rich in organic matter. Requires full sun exposure (at least 6-8 hours) and regular watering. Vertical support is essential to sustain the weight of the fruits.
Harvest when fruits turn bright red; being large and flattened fruits, it is important to pick them as soon as they mature to prevent cracking. Excellent for gourmet salads.
Like other indeterminate varieties, it benefits from good canopy ventilation and regular pruning to prevent powdery mildew and downy mildew in humid conditions.
Primary variety for fresh salads and summer dishes; the large size and characteristic shape make it perfect for sliced presentation. The intense flavor is appreciated in traditional and contemporary cooking.
Rich in lycopene and vitamin C, Pantano Sarom has significant antioxidant properties. The firm flesh maintains good flavor even when eaten raw.
