Caramba round tomato is a table variety with smooth, regular round fruit, highly productive and valued for its steady yield throughout the season.
It belongs to the species Solanum lycopersicum, family Solanaceae. An indeterminate, vigorous plant with good fruit set even under variable weather.
Sow in a heated seedbed between February and March; transplant into the field or pots from April to May.
Classic staked cultivation, with balanced fertilising and regular watering to maintain steady production of round, uniform fruit.
Fruits weigh about 100-150 g, bright red with smooth skin; harvest in successive pickings as they ripen.
A rustic variety, still worth protecting from downy mildew and spider mites in hot, humid periods, with good canopy ventilation.
Suitable both for fresh use in salads and for making sauces, thanks to its firm flesh and good sugar-acid balance.
Rich in lycopene and vitamin C, Caramba tomato has antioxidant properties and a well-balanced, sweet, slightly tangy flavour.
