White Incline Cauliflower is a well-established November-harvest F1 hybrid variety, highly regarded in professional growing circles. It stands out for its pure white, compact, fine-grained head, well protected by abundant wrapping foliage.
Its botanical name is Brassica oleracea var. botrytis, belonging to the Cruciferae family (Brassicaceae). The plant is vigorous, sturdy and very healthy, with foliage that effectively covers the head, protecting it from the elements. At full maturity the head can exceed 1.5 kg in weight.
Transplanting is generally done from June to September, for a staggered harvest running from late autumn into early winter. The growing cycle requires around 90-100 days from transplant to head maturity.
White incline cauliflower prefers medium-textured, cool, well-drained soils with a pH between 6.5 and 7.5. It is sensitive to water shortage, so regular irrigation is needed, especially during hot months and in the early stages after transplanting.
It shows good tolerance to autumn temperature swings, maintaining head quality even under the variable conditions typical of its harvest window.
Respect transplanting distances (50-60 cm along the row, 60-80 cm between rows) to encourage even head development. Avoid repeating the crop on the same soil for at least 2-3 years, preferring rotation with legumes such as beans or peas.
Like other Brassicaceae, it can be affected by downy mildew and bacterial diseases, favoured by warm, humid conditions. Common pests include cabbage white caterpillars, which damage the leaves: good weed control and targeted Bacillus thuringiensis treatments help keep them in check.
White incline cauliflower is low in calories yet highly nutritious, rich in vitamin C, fibre and minerals such as potassium and phosphorus. Regular cauliflower consumption is linked to a good intake of natural antioxidants, beneficial for overall wellbeing.
