Green Panther Cauliflower

Green Panther Cauliflower, also known as "early green Macerata cauliflower", is an F1 variety with a medium, highly productive cycle. The head, light green and large, is compact and globe-shaped, well protected by large green leaves.

The Green Panther Cauliflower Plant

Its botanical name is Brassica oleracea var. botrytis, belonging to the Cruciferae family (Brassicaceae). The plant is highly productive and able to resist the species' most common diseases, a trait that makes it particularly reliable to grow.

How to Sow Green Panther Cauliflower

Transplanting is generally done in summer, for a harvest with a medium-early cycle. Being an early variety within the "green Macerata" type, it offers relatively quick harvest times compared to the late variants of the same group.

How to Grow Green Panther Cauliflower

Green Panther cauliflower prefers medium-textured, cool, well-drained soils with a pH between 6.5 and 7.5. Unlike white varieties, the green head does not need to be shielded from light, since its green colour comes precisely from chlorophyll in the exposed inflorescence.

Harvest when the florets of the head are still tightly closed and compact, cutting plants at the collar and leaving a few protective leaves.

Tips for Growing Green Panther Cauliflower

Keep the soil free of weeds and ensure regular irrigation, especially in the early stages after transplanting. Thanks to its good disease resistance, it requires less intensive plant care compared to more delicate varieties.

Diseases and Pests of green Panther cauliflower

Like other Brassicaceae, it can still be affected by downy mildew and bacterial diseases under prolonged humidity. Cabbage white caterpillars are the most common pests: good weed control and targeted Bacillus thuringiensis treatments help keep them in check.

Properties of green Panther cauliflower

Green Panther cauliflower is rich in vitamin C, fibre and minerals such as potassium and phosphorus. Compared to white varieties, green cauliflower also contains chlorophyll, adding to the already rich nutritional profile of this vegetable.
