Pink Parmac F1 cauliflower is a distinctive variety, prized for its intense pink colour. The head is compact, round and fine-grained, with a sweet, delicate flavour that turns purple when cooked and fuchsia when dressed with vinegar.
Its botanical name is Brassica oleracea var. botrytis, belonging to the Cruciferae family (Brassicaceae). The plant has medium vigour with an upright habit, producing a globe-shaped, uniform, very compact head with a high specific weight.
The growing cycle is around 85-90 days from transplant to the harvest of the mature head, making it a relatively early variety compared to other cauliflower cultivars.
Pink Parmac cauliflower prefers cool, deep, medium-textured soils, well drained to avoid waterlogging. The ideal climate is mild and cool: temperatures that are too high (from around 20°C) can stress the plant, while temperatures that are too low risk halting head formation in young plants.
Growing in open fields benefits from the excellent natural coverage of the head, which protects its bright pink colour until harvest.
Water regularly after transplanting and during head development, especially in dry conditions, while avoiding waterlogging. Promptly remove rotten or damaged leaves with a clean, angled cut using disinfected tools.
It is susceptible to pests such as cockchafers, cabbage white caterpillars and cabbage flies, whose larvae damage the leaves. Common fungal diseases include downy mildew, clubroot, alternaria and dry rot, preventable by avoiding waterlogging.
Pink Parmac cauliflower is rich in vitamin C, fibre and minerals such as potassium and phosphorus. Its pink-purple colour indicates the presence of anthocyanins, valuable antioxidant pigments that further enrich the nutritional profile of this variety.
