Frisygo white multileaf lettuce is a highly productive cut-and-come-again variety, with thin, uniformly light green leaves, widely used in the production of ready-to-eat bagged salads.
A selection of Lactuca sativa var. crispa, multileaf type: develops a dense tuft of thin, slightly wavy leaves with no tight heart, ideal for mechanical cutting.
Dense broadcast or close row sowing from March to September, with fast germination from 8-10°C; the variety is selected for fast, uniform growth.
Prefers cool, well-drained soil and frequent light watering; high sowing density favours a compact, even tuft, perfect for single-pass cutting.
Cut when leaves reach 10-12 cm, trimming the whole tuft about 2 cm from the ground; under favourable conditions it can regrow for a second cut.
Watch for slugs in the early stages and downy mildew in high humidity conditions; the high sowing density requires good airflow between rows.
Multileaf varieties like this one are the basis of bagged "baby leaf" salads, valued for their convenience and fast growth allowing several production cycles per year.
A source of vitamin A, vitamin K and folate, Frisygo white multileaf lettuce has refreshing properties typical of young cut-and-come-again lettuces.
About 13-14 kcal per 100 g, with high water content, ideal for light salads and low-calorie diets.
