Arrow half San Marzano tomato is a shorter, more compact San Marzano-type variety, with an elongated cylindrical shape and firm, low-water flesh.
It belongs to the species Solanum lycopersicum, family Solanaceae. An indeterminate plant with a medium-early cycle.
Sow in a heated seedbed between February and May; transplant between April and June.
It prefers a planting layout of about 60 cm between plants and 1 metre between rows, with sturdy staking and regular watering.
The elongated, cylindrical fruits are harvested about 80 days after transplanting, once evenly bright red.
Like other San Marzano-type varieties it benefits from good canopy ventilation to prevent downy and powdery mildew.
Thanks to its firm, dense, low-water flesh, it is ideal for preserves, sauces and purees, as well as for fresh use.
Rich in lycopene, vitamin C and potassium, Arrow tomato has antioxidant properties beneficial to overall wellbeing.
